Faced with the mysterious death of his father and the rapid remarriage of his mother to his father’s brother, Hamlet must simultaneously grapple with his grief, the truth, and the enormity of the human condition. This “drink in one hand, script in the other” approach strips Shakespeare’s epic down to its core: a complex, dark, family drama.
